Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed

Posted by: Bob Kauflin In: —Easter|—Free Sheet Music|—Song Downloads

Keith and Kristyn Getty (along with Ed Cash) have a new song that celebrates the resurrection of Christ. Great lyrics, accessible melody, and reminders of how the resurrection affects our lives today. I’ve posted the lyrics below.

And thanks to the generosity of Keith and Kristyn, you can download the MP3 and various charts (choral, rhythm piano, hymn) by clicking here.

Verse 1
How can it be, the One who died,
Has borne our sin through sacrifice
To conquer every sting of death?
Sing, sing hallelujah.
For joy awakes as dawning light
When Christ’s disciples lift their eyes.
Alive He stands, their Friend and King;
Christ, Christ He is risen.

Chorus
Christ is risen, He is risen indeed!
Oh, sing hallelujah.
Join the chorus, sing with the redeemed;
Christ is risen, He is risen indeed.

Verse 2
Where doubt and darkness once had been,
They saw Him and their hearts believed.
But blessed are those who have not seen,
Yet, sing hallelujah.
Once bound by fear now bold in faith,
They preached the truth and power of grace.
And pouring out their lives they gained
Life, life everlasting.

Verse 3
The power that raised Him from the grave
Now works in us to powerfully save.
He frees our hearts to live His grace;
Go tell of His goodness.

Bridge
He’s alive, He’s alive!
Heaven’s gates are opened wide.
He’s alive, He’s alive!
Now in heaven glorified.

Thanks for featuring this, Bob.
I featured the five free songs file (which includes this one) from the Getty’s website yesterday, but this is just so brilliantly generous.
And a good song too.

[...] Bob Kauflin features a post about the new Keith and Kristyn Getty Easter themed song Christ Is Risen. The post features a link to a zip file which contains a mp3 recording of the song as featured on the album Songs For The Christian Life along with four part/hymnal, simple piano, choral, and rhythm arrangements. Free. Click on the link on Kauflin’s page and download. When I did so it downloaded into my downloads area and returned to the page so I got confused, but it does work. This is different to the five song download I featured yesterday, but is amazingly generous because it’s pretty much everything needed to use the song. [...]

Awesome to have great resurrection songs like this – not enough of these have been written recently! We need to be constantly reminding ourselves of the resurrection of our Lord, and proclaiming it with praise to God in song.

Lovely song, reminding us once again of the sacrifice of Christ, the very essence of our faith. Couldn’t have come at a better time.
