Mark Altrogge (alias Ticket Boy) at WorshipGod09

Posted by: Bob Kauflin In: —WorshipGod Conferences|Videos

Mark Altrogge is a multi-talented man. His songs have been sung across the world (I Stand in Awe, Forever Grateful) and he continues to be one of the most prolific, humble songwriters I know. He’s also a caring husband and dad, and a superb pastor at his church in Indiana, Pa. Not to mention, he’s a gifted artist and a great writer.

On top of all these talents, Mark is one of the funniest guys I know. He’s simply brilliant at making fun of his friends (and lest you misunderstand, he wrote a post on this topic over at the blog he writes with his son, Stephen). For years, he’s been using his humor to encourage WorshipGod attendees. At WorshipGod09, we had some time constraints, so I had to limit Mark’s participation. Rather than give the announcements (which sometimes expanded to 20 minutes), Mark simply announced the winners of our prize drawings at each session. Attendees were given five tickets to place in jars that represented different prizes. They could put one ticket in each jar or go for broke and put all their tickets in one jar. Mark’s job was to pull a ticket out and announce the winner. You’d figure that would take about 2 minutes. Not if you’re Mark Altrogge.

Here’s the video of the third session, where Mark riffs on how disappointed he is that he’s been reduced to the “ticket boy.” And for the record, Mark didn’t have any particular “Bob Jones” in mind. Enjoy.

Mark, you should read your own blog for spiritual inspiration. I’m thinking of just posting all your videos from the conferences on Worship Matters from now on. Visits will probably triple.

I did not make it this year, so I would love for you to post all of Mark’s videos. In fact can you put up all of Mark’s from last year too?

I’m thinking that was the fourth session, but then there are three types of people in the world, those that can count and those that can’t.

Hey Paul,

After the humiliation Bob put me through, how can you take his side?

Mark, couldn’t make it this year, but I am appalled that you have been reduced to “Ticket Boy.” If you’re interested in being restored to your previous glory, we have an “Announcement Guy” opening at our church.
