Awesome testimony!

My son, Corban, loves the Walking With the Wise CD--it's a special treat to hear "Mr. Jones" at home as well as on Sunday mornings.

His favorite songs are Nuggets of Gold and Make Me Wise, but he regularly asks to listen to each one. I love this CD, too! Wow, so much better than Elmo (no surprise there) It feeds my soul almost daily as I'm caring for the kids at home.

It's been a great tool for helping our son understand telling the truth, obeying dad and mom, and being a good friend. We've found them invaluable in teaching Corban about the goodness of the Lord and how much we need Him.

"A cheerful heart is never empty..." :)

Thanks so much!

Hi Bob,

First and foremost thank you for sharing your wisdom and Gods glory with everyone And the blessing of bestowing Gods knowledge upon us.

I have thought about this for years. We are told that worship is not exclusive singing, but is deeper internally and externally. We have a great responsibility as servants to be an ambassador of Christ in everything we do and say on a daily.

The problem I have seen is that worship leaders have been classified as a title by the community of churches and not enough time educating people on the difference and that we are all called to be worship leaders with our own gifts and above all remember we are here to love and serve God first, and each other second. In time, when we are internally aligned with God and His word, our lives and actions will follow.

My question is how do you educate and teach not only students, but a community to understand the difference and change the perspective of putting the music worship leader on a pedestal?

In my view, we are all equally loved by God with different roles and responsibilities. Therefore, this seperation that has been placed on the songs and leaders can be overwhelming and strenuous at times. That is why I can relate to your blog and think that we all need to have a better understanding of corporate worship versus one person or group being the driven focus of worship.

I am glad and thankful for the opportunity to read your blog. Thank you for sharing God's wisdom and Knowledge!

I couldn't agree more! I am so thankful for these CDs both as a dad and as a local churchman. We have done a complete turnaround in our children's worship choirs in recent years, and these albums are the ones we sing most. On Mother's Day we did 3 songs, two of which were from these albums ("Gentle Like Jesus" and "To Be Like Jesus"). We often give the CDs away to parents, leaders, and to the kids as prizes. We love them because the music, lyrics, and production are great, and they are not silly, as some kids music can be.

Be encouraged! These CDs are doing more than you know.

wow! wow! what can i say? i've really been blessed by all your comments. Am a born again christian and i've always had the desire be a session musician(guitar, keyboard, bass). I've taken time to pray about it and i've come to accept the fact that music is more of a career(profession) than a ministry to me. This is what God wants me to do.(thanks for all your comments). Before now, i used to ask myself, if Ozzy Osbourne asked you to play the guitar on one of his concerts would you accept the offer? Thank God, now i know better. sesugh...

Well, it's been 3 years since i posted my comment about my use of canned music at Mass. I'm happy to say that we are still using it and it just keeps getting better. The longer I use my recording software the better the sequences sound.
One problem we do face each week is the blending of the track with the live voices and guitar. we do not have a 'sound person' at the back of the sanctuary to make sure the voices are not overpowered by the tracks. We have several friends who are very honest with us and tell us how we sounded.
The wealth of music opened to us using tracks is unbelievable. We use the new Gather Hymnal and have created tracks for some amazing new songs.
Peace,
Terry

I love the kids music. It is so refreshing to have kids music that the parents enjoy listening to, and that have such fantastic, God-exalting lyrics that I think will really help my kids to remember good theology. I can't wait for more!!! (Is there one in the works?)

Bob,

I know this is an old article, but I just came across it. Really helpful! I feel that in a a new church, so much of the congregations identity will come out of the music and 'liturgy,' whatever form that takes. Thanks for these thoughts on how to make sure that identity is built around the Cross of Christ and the joyful proclamation of His glory.

Also Titus, I don't know if you will read this, but I'm praying for your church and for God's work in your nation! I've had some of my best experiences of singing to God when led only by an acoustic guitar. May Christ be exalted in your worship!

My kids have all your kids albums and also love to listen to many of your other CDs that I have and love. There is nothing more precious then hearing your kid in the backseat belt out, "Wonderful Savior, beautiful Jesus!" Especially when these kids lived the first 6 to 10 years of their lives in another country and had never heard the name of Jesus!

Your reminder about your kids music today made me realize that I need to order some albums for my friends who are embarking on foster care and just received their first kids. It makes me very happy that they will be listening to God honoring, Christ exalting, scripture saturated music that will minister to their hearts and help them to learn about the amazing gospel of Jesus.

Thanks for all your hard work!!
