Thank you! My team will greatly appreciate this as we discuss which songs we want to bring back to teach our congregation!

The link to “Behold Our God” goes to the wrong song … same title, different song.

Just out of curiosity, will you guys be “fixing” any parts of the live recording before releasing it? That would include using auto tune or re-tracking / adding new parts. We’re working on a live recording and there have been some philosophical differences in regards to doing that kind of thing.

    • Bob Kauflin August 18, 2011 at 12:59 AM #

Mike, after Steve Cook and Joel Sczebel listened to the tracks yesterday, I think they’d said everyone would appreciate if we did some “fixing” on the vocals, which includes recutting them. People are a lot more forgiving In the passion of the moment than when they have to listen to something repeatedly. We’ll probably keep most of the instrumental tracks, with a little editing here and there, and maybe add an instrument or two. But our goal is to keep the live sound, which will be greatly helped by how loud the congregation was during the recording.

And FWIW, there are very, very few recordings that are completely “live.”

Will there be any songs from the conference made available for listening/streaming that were performed by any of the group(s) during the conference? For example, I’m thinking of how glorious “Behold Our God” sounded live with everyone present – that would be a potential viral youtube moment :-)

And thank you for the list – very helpful! This was my first conference (my wife’s third) and now I can see why she’s always so excited when she comes home, both the music and the teaching. I hope to bring the family in 2013.

Steven, we’re hoping to be able to post videos from different sessions. Thanks for asking.

  7. Bob Lyon August 18, 2011 at 9:28 PM #

Bob, I’d vote for a video clip the live worship of “Absent from Flesh”, which to me was the rockingest, most glorious worship experience of the conference, which was chock full of such moments.

Bob, Will you be posting the spontaneous song you sang to the young people on Saturday morning? My wife and I were very moved by it. (Oh, and its been a week and there hasn’t been any fighting over the iPad! Praise The Lord and Thank you!)

    • Bob Kauflin August 19, 2011 at 6:22 PM #

Pat, thanks for asking. Yes, at some point I hope to post the audio and video. Glad the iPad isn’t causing any strife in your family!

  9. David MacKenzie August 20, 2011 at 12:47 AM #

Mike, if you’re interested, the Sovereign Grace Music albums “Next 2009 Live” and “Together for the Gospel Live” both have no re-recording and only a little editing. They’re pretty close to what it was like being there.

  10. Daniel Renstrom August 22, 2011 at 3:44 PM #

Bob, thanks so much for putting the song lists up with links. I’m looking forward to introducing many of these songs to our church.
The memory of how loud people sang at WG11 is still so precious to think about. Thanks for your hard work in putting the conference together.

    • Bob Kauflin August 22, 2011 at 10:15 PM #

So glad you could make it, Daniel. Hope to hang out more some time!

Thanks for this song list, Bob – and very excited that there’ll be video and audio in future. Would be neat to see footage of the conference choir in action from the first night!

@Pat – I have a rough video of the spontaneous song, I’m sure the official one will be much clearer. But for what it’s worth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I0-toIsa_g

Bob – didn’t we sing “All I Have Is Christ” on Thursday morning as a last-minute addition? The story you shared behind that change was very helpful and practical (perhaps it justifies me texting during a meeting?!)

  13. Mike Middleton August 28, 2011 at 5:46 PM #

Bob and David, thanks for posting and responding to my question. I totally agree with your vision for the live album. You want to create and capture the same experience had by those who were in attendance. Trying to package that onto a disc that will be played via a wide variety of sources is difficult. Keep up the good work guys, I appreciate your ministry.

  14. Dan October 6, 2011 at 12:48 AM #

Curious… What key did you guys to “How Great is Your Faithfulness (Matt Redman)” in? I’m planning on using it this Sunday but finding a key that balances the low end with the high is proving to be difficult.

    • Bob Kauflin October 6, 2011 at 2:22 AM #

Dan, we do it in A. It is high, but we found the song to be too low in G. Ab is an option.

  15. Jeremy April 30, 2012 at 8:15 PM #

Bob, this is kind of random . . . Do you remember a CD offered in the conference store called “The Macedonians” (or recorded by the Macedonians)? The music was more African in nature/sound . . . Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    • Bob Kauflin May 1, 2012 at 8:03 PM #

Jeremy, yes. You can find it here. It’s a CD put out by Covenant Mercies.
