NEXT is Coming Soon – Win a Free Registration

next.2010.jpg
At the end of the month, I’ll have the joy of leading the music at NEXT in Baltimore, MD, along with three bands: the NA Band, Zelos, and Generation Letter. Last year we recorded the music and produced an album that you can download for 5 bucks.

NEXT is a conference designed for college students, young singles, and young married couples, but open to anyone who’d like to come. This year at Next we’ll be studying some of the essential doctrines of the Christian faith. We’ll ask, “What difference should these things make in the way we live?” As we consider who God is, what Jesus accomplished, how the Bible should guide us, how we grow as Christians, and how human history will end, we’ll press for real-life application. Speakers include D.A. Carson, C.J. Mahaney, Kevin DeYoung, Mark Dever, Jeff Purswell, and Josh Harris. Sure to be a feast for the mind and soul.

Although registration ends this coming Sunday, May 16, I want to give away 3 free registrations to Next 2010. (If you’re already registered, thanks! This is for everybody else.) Here’s the plan. I’ll pick three people in the next week who help us get the word out about the conference. To be eligible, just do one or more of the following:

– tweet about Next (link to www.thisisnext.org)
– post about Next on your Facebook page
– email some friends who might be interested
– blog about the conference
– tell your singles/college pastor about the conference
– send up a hot air baloon with NEXT stickers
– or something else we haven’t thought of

After you’ve done one or more of the above, post a comment on this post telling me what you did (and if you can, linking to an example of your efforts). At noon on Saturday, May 15, I’ll pick three enthusiastic Next promoters and announce here that they’re receiving a free registration.

Thanks for your help!

I’ve announced the NEXT conference to the youth group at my church a couple of times during our weekly bible study meetings. I requested fliers and stickers before-hand from the NEXT blog-person so that I could promote the conference a little better, having something to hand-out,especially the cool stickers, was a great way to get them interested. NEXT is a great opportunity to learn about the word of God and to really understand the gospel, and how it affects (or it should affect) our lives each day. I’m a poor college student, so I was planning of only buying a session pass or a day pass. But the possibility of wining a free registration could change everything.

  3. Natasha May 12, 2010 at 3:56 PM #

Do you know if they will be recording and selling the music again this year?

    • Bob Kauflin May 12, 2010 at 4:02 PM #

Natasha, we’ll be recording the music, but probably posting videos on YouTube instead of making an album.

  4. Rachel May 12, 2010 at 4:12 PM #

I emailed several people in my Bible study just the other day about Next 2010, does that count for the promotion? I really hope so! I would so love to go!

  5. Kelsey May 12, 2010 at 4:22 PM #

I tweeted about NEXT and also shared your post on google reader so anyone following me will see it.

Sounds like a great conference and lineup of speakers!

I have not signed up for NEXT this year yet, but I am planning on it. I also know some other people who have not yet signed up but are wanting to go. So hopefully my post on Facebook will be an invite to everyone who wants to go!

We would love for our singles to come to Next, but it is just not possible this year. Will you be putting the sermons online for download?

    • Bob Kauflin May 13, 2010 at 5:38 PM #

Catherine, yes, we normally post the messages online for download. Thanks for asking!

  12. Jennifer Coy May 13, 2010 at 8:00 PM #

I didn’t think it would be possible to go this year, however, this may be an opportunity after all. Thanks for the opportunity, Bob!
I’ve helped spread the word via facebook by uploading the logo for NEXT and making it my profile picture. I’ve also reminded those who see my facebook account that the registration deadline is May 16.
Then for fun, I’ve made enlarged color copies of the NEXT sticker and posted them (wrapped in plastic wrap due to rain) on my minivan’s windows. And for an extra bit of fun, I’m taping some color copies of the sticker to some helium balloons to hang from my van window when the vehicle is parked.
Hope this helps spread the word…

I attended NEXT/New Attitude for the first time four years ago, all by myself. Thought I might be intimidated but was just incredibly blessed! My goal since has been to bring more people each year. It’s gone from my one, to three, to five, to seven at last year’s conference.

I laughed when I saw this because I’d just been emailing everyone I could think of that I’ve mentioned NEXT to in the past year (and a few that I’ve never mentioned it to at all) with a friendly personalized reminder that time is running out to sign up.

Since the conference last year I’ve been sporting stickers on my car, my planner and anywhere else I can think of to spread the word. I’ve left information around town, shared copies of sermons and promoted the resource of Sovereign Grace worship music all with the caveat that, “Hey! There’s also this great conference in Baltimore on Memorial Day weekend…”

I’ve made an effort to encourage those who’ve visited our church recently to take advantage of the opportunity the conference affords both to connect with others in the church and to gain a sense of what the larger movement of Sovereign Grace is like. To serve this, I’ve been doing anything possible to get costs down so that all can attend. A free registration would be an amazing chance to pass some savings on to the group.

Now I’ve tweeted, facebooked, texted and (imagine!) spoken to anyone in my general vicinity today encouraging them to sign up. As for tomorrow, that hot air balloon idea sounds pretty fun (or maybe I’ll just drop some fliers at the coffee shop). :)

I have invited my daughter to attend NEXT. Her husband is in Afghanistan (already 9 months) and she is depressed and pulling away from church. Would love for her to win a free registration and attend…praying God will restore her or bring her to Himself. Thanks for the opportunity.

  16. Jeff Kelly May 14, 2010 at 8:27 AM #

Awesome opportunity for an awesome encounter with Jesus!

I’m tweeting (http://twitter.com/Kell1830/status/13973070341), Facebooking (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=158500307), emailing, and telling my friends about the NEXT conference. I’ve already been encouraging them to go, and this contest is a great reminder.

If I could personally afford it, I would love to go as well. I’m a newly married guy who has been investing in a couple of younger guys and would love the chance to take the two of them to this conference! One of them is an underprivileged youth from downtown Raleigh, and would really benefit from attending. He’s recently come to know Christ and really needs to deepen in his understanding of the doctrine of God.

Thanks for all you do Bob!

  17. Tai Sophia Polczynski May 14, 2010 at 10:13 AM #

I would love to go again, but just couldn’t afford it this year. So, because I love NEXT so much, and because I’d love for all of my friends to hear about it anyway, even if I don’t win, I blogged about it ( http://beggarlybouquet.com/?p=540 ), Tweeted it ( http://bit.ly/9Dvsf3 ), and posted to my Facebook page about it. I’ve also talked to most of my friends about it since January, and I’ve put the NEXT stickers and brochures out in our church book-store for people to take.

I’m thinking of shouting through a megaphone while throwing some stickers and fliers off the town-hall roof…what do you think? ;o)

  18. Georgi Spilman May 14, 2010 at 12:02 PM #

I heard about NEXT, last year from a friend of mine. I’m really hoping I’ll be able to go this year.

I have made a post on my facebook about it: “This looks like an amazing opportunity for our generation to see and learn how to take the gospel of truth and pass it on!” and I posted the link to thisisnext.org. I also posted a song I love on my facebook page, that was done at NEXT last year: “All I have is Christ.” http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=209701848&ref=profile

  19. Bertrhude Albert May 15, 2010 at 5:17 AM #

BOB (:::Gasp::) Kauflin!!! HELLO!!! I am beyond honored to be writing what you will be reading!! (:::GASP!:::). Since I already know a lot about you, haha =), I will introduce myself… My name is Bertrhude Albert, and I am the “NEXT” Superhero. Unlike batman and superman, I have the distinct power/ability to disclose my personal identity without jeopardizing my safety. You asked for enthusiasm, so here it is!! I’ve made it my goal to advertise the NEXT conference by:
1)Creating a state of the art NEXT superhero outfit (with wings/a cape/goggles and everything!) and wearing it on the University of Florida Campus while shouting the goodnews of NEXT!
-Stood on tall trash cans with HUGE handmade NEXT board (crafty board, with all the info about NEXT)
-Played my djembe (drum) and my Ukulele while singing about NEXT.
-Walked throughout the campus meeting random people (my costume attracted them) and telling them about the conference.
-Did flips and African dances (to attract the people) and hypnotized them with the amazingness of NEXT!
-Allowed random people to take pictures with me in my costume, in exchange for 2 minutes of their lives to tell them about NEXT.
    2) Drove around Gainesville telling random people about NEXT!
-Drove the car while my friends held board up in the window of the car informing people about the conference.
-Walked the parking lots (with my costume) holding NEXT sign. (It was hot!)
-Walked by huge glass windows holding NEXT sign, waiting for people to read it. (They LOVED it).
-Went to Panera with NEXT sign, talked to elderly people about NEXT, although its not geared towards them =(
-Shouted the NEXT website to the world (in my costume)3) Mass emailed my friends and Family about Next
    4) Facebook
-Changed my profile pic to NEXT conference.
-Changed my status to be about the AWESOMENESS OF NEXT!
    -Blogged about NEXT!
    -Joined the NEXT Event!
-Left comments on my friends wall just saying “NEXT!” (Maybe itll turn into a game!)
    -Facebooked friends about NEXT.
    5) Went door to door with my friends to tell my neighbors about NEXT!
    6) Texted and called people about NEXT!
    7) Announcing NEXT to my college group that meets on campus, Chi Alpha. (That should be worth double the amount of points, it’s an Assemblies of God fellowship!!)
    8) Posters on my car (although its broken right now), and my roomates car about NEXT!
    9) Having my sister make her twitter about Next (I dont have a twitter).
    10) Requesting stickers!
    11) Last but not least, I contacted the greatest most effective advertising agent there is. Trust me, He is the most reliable and faithful agent in the universe. With His help, everyone who needs to be at this conference…will be there. He’s got this mysterious way of contacting people all over, at the same time, even if they’re lacking technology. He’s that good. I call him, Jehovah. I hardcore prayed for this conference, and I trust that God will bring in the harvest. He triumphs any and EVERY attempt man gives at advertising. He’s the best!

Basically my life has been all about NEXT lately, haha. The reality is I’m not crazy, I just really want to go to NEXT! I went in 2008(NA), before I became a broke college student, and it literally shook up my life. Not only were the messages and worship sessions amazing, but I also got to meet John Piper at a restaurant! After speaking with him about my major in psychology, I went online and changed it. Hahaaha, I love NEXT! I didnt go last year, because of financial reasons, but you better believe I talked it up among my friends (I shook hands and spoke with John Piper at the previous conference!!) I wasnt planning on going this year because of hardcore financial strains (its getting so pricey to go to college now a days), but this contest may change things! When I heard the theme of this years conference, my heart almost stopped! These past weeks I’ve been writing a book (I’m an English and sociology major at UF…why not use it for hardcore Kingdom building), about theology (Haha, hope to be one of the first reformed Haitian Women authors!) and I know this conference can only be beneficial for the book (and of course my LIFE!!) YAYYYYY NEXT!!!!

(I have 7 links of proof, I sent them in a previous comment and will send them again in another one, because they are having problems attatching! They will be attatched! =) )

Mr. Kauflin, Thank you for this AMAZING opportunity to attend NEXT! When I heard about your contest, I didn’t waste a minute more of my life…and I got right to it. I have never been to a Sovereign Grace conference, but I pray that after this year, those words will never leave my mouth again. I attend, First Assembly of Gainesville Florida, but I have many friends at the Gainesville Sovereign Grace church (Abundant Grace) and am very familiar with Sovereign Grace. I am constantly drawn to the God-centeredness and passion of SG.
Now to get back on track. The past hours of my life have been intense, as Ive set aside everything in my schedule to advertise NEXT to every body I saw. I’m sure you’re familiar with Bertrhude Albert’s list. The strapping young lad in almost all of her photo’s is me =)!!. We worked together to effectively accomplish everything on the list. Two heads are better than one!Ecclesiastes 4:9. Originally we were going to post one comment for both of us, but we realized that that may mean if we win, we would only get one free registration! Lol, we didnt want to risk that.
As a brief summary, here is what I did:
I advertised throughout the Univeristy of Florida, wearing a special made, attention attracting outfit!
*I played and African Drum in attempts of drawing a crowed to hear about NEXT!
*I introduced myself to many many strangers and told them about NEXT.
*I sang improv about NEXT! (That may have lost a few people, I am not as good as you Mr. Kauflin!)
*I walked throughout the food court showing off a home made NEXT board with all the information, and more, about NEXT.
I went around Gainesville sharing NEXT to every body I saw.
*I was the board holder in the back, showing off the board to the drivers and passangers near us.
*Went to Panera and shared the great news of NEXT to everyone, wearing the costume.
*Struck random conversations with older people because of the Highschool bible shirt I was wearing. Ended up telling them about NEXT too!
    I emailed/texted/called friends.
I went door to door telling random people to check out the website.
I updated information all on my facebook.
I aided Bertrhude in posters on the cars.
    I requested stickers with B.
Most importantly I supported the advertising through my prayers. I am the prayer warrior for NEXT’s ADs!

Please see Bertrhude Albert’s links in order to verify my claims!
Thank you again Mr. Kauflin for this chance! I would LOVE to go to NEXT this year, and I hope that I am able to through this contest!! If I had the cash, I would go in a heartbeat, however I too am a broke college student, and I dont have the money! Im going to start my senior year at the UF and its pretty challenging to get money these days! I know the presence of God is going to be at NEXT, its going to be there in a thick way…and I would LOVE to be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Hows that for Enthusiasm?, lol =) )
