Heading to the Desiring God Conference

Posted by: Bob Kauflin In: —Family|—Other Events

I’m heading out from vacation today with my daughter, Chelsea, to speak at the Desiring God National Conference, The Power of Words and the Wonder of God. I’ll be addressing the topic of “Why Does God Want Us to Sing?” It’s a real privilege to speak at this conference along with Sinclair Ferguson, Paul Tripp, Mark Driscoll, Dan Taylor, and John Piper, although I don’t think I’ll agree to speak at the end of a vacation again. It can be just a little distracting.

The first week was mostly sunny and warm, but God saw fit in the second week to give us numerous days of 40mph winds and then some rain to go with it. Not sure you can see it clearly in the picture, but at some points there was only about 15 feet of actual beach.

..On another note, I was given an extraordinary gift today. At 4:08 this morning, Devon and Kristine, my son and daughter-in-law, gave birth to a boy, Korey Andrew.

Actually, only Kristine gave birth. But I’m sure Devon played a vital role of encouragement. Although the timing was unfortunate (they ended up staying missing vacation entirely this year), I’m reminded once again that “children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward” (Ps. 127:3). Can’t wait to see my new grandson in person.

.

.And if you happen to be coming to the conference, please come up and say hi. In any case, I’d appreciate you prayers that everyone at the conference would be better equipped to use our words for the glory of the Savior and the advancing of the gospel.

I’ve been on vacation with my family this last week, and I think we must have been in the same area, because I can relate to the 40 mph winds and no beach.

Wish I could be there, Bob! I’ll definitely pick up the sessions to hear your teaching. Hopefully the conference will become a book next year as well! Hope to see you soon.

Congratulations on becoming a grandpa. And have an awesome time at the conference. Unfortunately, I’m not able to attend but will be praying for you and other speakers and those who are attending. Grace and peace.

Korey Andrew! Like it!
Praise the Lord for new life!! And all the best to Devon and Kristine – tell that boy to start a blog so we can send those messages directly :-)
And congratulations to you again, Grandpa Bob!
