On Vacation

Posted by: Bob Kauflin In: —Family

I’m at the beach with my family right now and won’t be posting again until next week.

When I get back I’ll receive the the first draft of my book back with edits. It’s been great to get away from it for a while. I’m looking forward to diving back in.

In the mean time, I just received word that Yamaha is offering free on-line training for audio training, computer recording, and choosing a keyboard. The schedule is as follows:

  • Audio 101: Learn audio basics, including an introduction to mixers, amplifiers, speakers, microphones and signal flow. Sessions will cover basic mixing concepts like EQ and effects processing, along with the technical and artistic aspects of church audio.

Sunday, June 10, 2007 – 4:30 p.m. (Easter Time)
Monday, June 11, 2007 – 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

  • Computer Based Recording: Learn how to record weekly sermons and worship music programs with high fidelity. The seminar will also feature tips about producing a church podcast.

Monday, June 25, 3007 – 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

  • Choosing the Right Keyboard: This session will cover the differences between the three basic types of keyboards, digital pianos, synth workstations and arranger workstations, as well as their applications in the church.

Monday, July 2, 2007 – 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

For details, you can visit Yamaha’s site.

I sat in on the audio 101 session last night- a good intro. to mics/soundboards/eq/compression, etc… it lasted about an hour and a half. The presenter, Mike Overlin, is engaging and seems to know what he’s talking about. Thanks for the head’s up.

Ah, the beach. We actually live 5 minutes from the beach. If you’re anywhere near where we are, it’s hot. Really hot. Dang hot.

Blessings brother – and much needed rest.
