New Attitude

This weekend I’m at the New Attitude conference in Louisville, Kentucky. New Attitude was started by Josh Harris but is now overseen by Eric Simmons, both pastors in my home church. About 3000 singles and young married couples are descending upon the Louisville Convention Center for three days of passionate praise, engaging biblical teaching on discernment, and rich fellowship. My son Devon will be leading the corporate worship and I have the joy of supporting him. My other son, Jordan, will be playing drums. I’m amazed that i get to be here, and even more amazed that I get to be part of the worship team.

One of the many things I love about New Attitude is the amount of intentional creativity that goes into the conference. A team of servants takes the better part of a year to plan ways to bless, serve, inspire, and motivate the people who come to the conference to live for the glory of Jesus Christ. Every aspect is carefully thought through to increase people’s awareness of the Gospel, God’s Word, and the importance of a humble orthodoxy, defined as "a commitment to believing, living, and representing the truth with humility." Eric and his team adhere to the maxim that "creativity isn’t something you do - it’s a way you do something." I’m grateful for their leadership and example.

I’ll try to post some conference thoughts over the weekend. Right now, I’m going to try to catch up on some of the sleep I haven’t been getting while finishing the first draft of my book, which by the way, is now done.

  2. Bob, Just wanted to drop a line of thanks from one who attended the NA conference this year. Your ministry in song spoke directly to my heart and you drew me into the beauty of the cross. Thanks to Devon and all the band as well. You served us well.

  3. Hi Bob!

I wanted to let you know that we all felt God really spoke to us at the conference, not just through the messages, but through the entire idea of Humble Orthodoxy and changing peoples attitudes. During the conference and even now we have been actively discussing how to apply what we learned through the messages and what we learned about having a new attitude to our own ministries. Please pass our gratitude to Pastor Eric and Pastor Josh for all the time spent on this, and of course to the worship team as well. By Grace of God we will continue to find ways to apply what we have learned and by Grace of God take each step in obedience.
