Not many people bring out the fact that the heart idolatry is a problem when they talk about "taste." Thank you for your response.

I would highly recommend the Cross Movement (Ambassador, Flame, etc.) as they are doing theologically driven hip hop which is strong in the genre, Christ centered, is courageous, and exhibits biblical depth.

I reviewed Flame's new CD <a href="http://www.powerofchange.org/blog/2006/02/album_review_flame_rewind.html" rel="nofollow">Rewind here.</a>

Right on. I love to listen to christian rock and alternitive. Bands like Deitiphobia and Mortal. My greatest conviction is a matter of "santification". When others hear me listening to this, do I appear to be set apart? How would those around me know that my music is saying something different and that I... am different? What is my witness to those people who probably think I am into the same garbage they are?

I appreciate your response. I am African American pastor and the conversation about Christian rap is increasing. Your answer was well-balanced and helpful to me and I will refer others to it.

I liked what you said. As parents teaching our children to really listen to the message of the music is so important. With my oldest especially when he was little I would sit with him as he watched TV and just some of the commericials (shown on cartoon channels) would demonstrate rebellious children being reward. I would ask him, "Do you think that's the right way to act?"

Encouraging our kids (and checking ourselves) by saying "What is the real message here?"

Thanks again for the good words!
