I needed that—right now. My heart is very burdened and overwhelmed right now with an acute sense of my sinfulness. Seasons like this are unfortunately fewer for me than I like to admit. The Sprit knew that I needed to be reminded that when God is so kind to reveal to me my deep-rooted depravity, He is simultaneously giving me grace to cry out for mercy. God’s kind revelation of our depravity is never an end, it is always a means.

I am so glad that this mercy I plead for will never be denied because it has been secured for me by Christ!

Thank you for your role in what God is doing in my life today.

I had this play out yesterday at the beginning of the service. I had put put several long hours in prior weeks preparing for this particular service and the music worship I had arranged and practiced for.

I waited and hoped for more and more of the congregation so my efforts would not be wasted on such a few. My desire was focused that they could appreciate My work, and recognise ME, and how long and hard I must have worked to make this worship happen.

How humbling it was to recognise and confess in those moments, my desire for glory from others and instead of seeking glory to God.

I think go through the same process every week.

Thank you so much for your very personal (and sometimes painful) entries like this. You are not alone in wrestling with these issues, and your honesty and humility are an example for me as I help lead a worship team in a small church in central Iowa.
