This is my first time ever on your site and I just want to let you know how much of an encouragement and help this reminder of Psalm 13 was to me. It's encouraging to see that God's love and grace is not dependent on our circumstances. Rather because of what He has accomplished already for us our response should be worship and joy.

So often it is easy to get wrapped up in my circumstances that I, like David tend to question God and think that I know better. "Why have You let me down, God?" is the question that I often ask. The proper question should be "why God have you chosen to forgive me when over and over I have done nothing to deserve your grace and forgiveness?" His grace is amazing, and I thank God for showing that to me.

Thanks for the reminder to stay focused on the cross. I am overwhelmingly grateful to God for Sovereign Grace Ministries and the impact of not only the preaching, but also the music in furthering my walk with God. Thanks!

It is so easy to relate to how David felt, down and depressed - and therefore it is so uplifting to have our eyes lifted up from 'the grave' and towards our Salvation found in Jesus Christ.

Your last challenge, asking whether we are singing because we are seeking a new 'experience', or whether we are singing because we are ALREADY thankful and singing in response to God's wonderful gifts, is a great point! The two can often be hard to distinguish between when we look at each other praising God - but I know from personal experience that it is easier to evaluate my own heart in this one...

... when I am seeking 'God' for some new experience (although often not seeking God, but rather music itself) I often feel unsatisfied, weak, and hopeless. A multitude of sins can creep in to my heart as I supposedly 'worship' God. It could be doubt, self-centeredness, pride - even lust, thinking that I deserve some new experience.

But when I seek God in thankfulness. the opposite occurs. I am fulfilled by the truth about God already, and so it is God who initiated the response in a way... and I am taken up in wonder - not looking to fulfill any part of my lusting body as I am aware that all of my needs (mostly my greatest need) has been taken care of by christ on the cross... and all I have left to give is thankfulness and praise to a God who is mighty in grace! this type to singing to the Lord is sweet and satisfying... and more importantly - GLORIFYING TO GOD!!!

thanks Bob! :)
