This was really good! This year I am attempting to reading thru the Bible using The Daily Walk Bible. I had a member of my worship team make the comment about too many people read about the Bible instead of reading the Bible. I am thankful to see more ministers encouraging their people to be in God' s Word. Thank you.

To Doug:

There's not a lot of difference in approach between Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of D.A. Carson's For the Love of God. Each day you read four chapters from four different parts of the Bible, and he typically picks one of them to comment on, choosing a different passage in each volume. While he makes practical application at times, his focus is tying the passage into the flow of the Bible story, that is, the redemption God provided for His people in Christ.

Wonderful of you to share this! Especially the part about having your family read thru the schedule with you. Family worship is important. That's what I love about the schedule: it involves the whole family in the Word of God.

Our church congregation uses M'Cheyne's schedule and it has been a blessing and help to us, too...

Hi. Really helpful post. A commenter on my blog put me onto this post as I have been trying to drum up some interest in using the M'Cheyne scheme as the year has begun. There's a few of us using it now. Thanks!
